Using the Basic Finishing Module (BFM)

The Basic Finishing Module (BFM) allows you to finish your jobs with features such as:

Stapling
High-capacity stacking
Collating

What the LED means

LED is Off = Stacker is accepting sheets (Do not open BFM front door)

LED is Steady = Stacker tray is lowering (Do not open BFM front Door)

LED is Blinking = OK to open stacker door.

Using the Variable Shaped Tray

The Variable Shaped Tray improves the stacking of stock <140 gsm that experience curl. Use after you've tried the standard decurl adjustments. Do Not use for stock >140 gsm. Go to Adjusting the Decurler.

To install the Variable Shaped Tray:

Slowly pull out the Elevator Tray on the BFM.
Place the Variable Shaped Tray on the BFM Elevator Tray. It drops directly into the Elevator Tray when it is in the unload position.
Carefully push the Elevator Tray back into the BFM being careful not to damage the actuator on the right side of the tray.

To remove the Variable Shaped Tray:

Slowly pull out the Elevator Tray on the BFM.
Unload the stacker, if necessary.
Lift the Variable Shaped Tray off the Elevator Tray.
Push the Elevator Tray back into the BFM.

Unloading stock from the Variable Shaped Tray:

Slowly pull out the Elevator Tray on the BFM being careful not to disturb the stack.
Only unload up to two (2) reams of stock at a time, being careful to maintain stack integrity
For the the last two reams slide your fingers under the staple cutouts on the right of the tray.
Slide your hands back to mid-stack, lift and remove the stock.
Close the Elevator Tray.

Selecting the BFM or BFM Plus finisher as the output device.

Select the Output tab from a Job or Queue Properties window.
Select [Stapling/Finishing: Output Location].
Select [Finisher 'X'].
Select either:
System Specified
Auto Switch
Main Stacker
Top Tray

BFM Stacker Settings

Select [Print Manager: Stacking tab].
Right click on <Finisher 'X'> and select Settings.
Set Offset Stacking setting:
Enable Between Job Offsetting
Allow PDL Override
Set Unload After:
Job
Limit
Partition
Set
Job/Partition

BFM Stacker Limits

Select [Print Manager: Stacking tab].
Right click on <Finisher 'X'> and select Stacker Limits. (Not used for stapled sets)
Set Stacking Limits:
Main Stacker 200 - 3000 sheets
Bindexer Capacity 15 - 100 sheets per unstapled set chunk (or leave blank for Automated Bindexer). The system uses the lower of the manual or automatic setting. Bindexer is set to 100 at install.

BFM Set Registration

Select [Print Manager: Stacking tab].
Right click on <Finisher 'X'> and select Stacker Limits.
Select Set Registration Quality: (Set values on each BFM.)
Improve Set Registration - improves curl with jobs that have two staples.
Improve Initial Pages Registration - improves curl within sets.

NOTE: When running smaller stapled sets (15 sheets or less), limit the quantity to 100 maximum. Unload the stacker after each quantity is completed.
