You have access to either the PredictPrint Media Manager features or the Manage Stock Library features, depending on the software version that is installed on your press. PredictPrint Media Manager includes all of the features of the Manage Stock Library. PredictPrint Media Manager builds on Manage Stock Library functionality with the addition of barcode scanning, PredictPrint Stock Wizard, and PredictPrint Cloud Server.
The Stock Library is where you identify the media used by the press and manage the media attributes such as type, weight, and name. For details about PredictPrint, refer to PredictPrint Stock Wizard.
Each media in the Stock Library may be assigned to one or more feeder trays. Each feeder tray is programmed to feed one specific media. The press can then select media from one or more trays to match the requirements of the job.
Use the Stock Library to:
Assign media to feeder trays
Add new media to the Stock Library
Edit the attributes of existing media
Manage system attribute settings for media
Delete media from the Stock Library
Save or restore the Stock Library
Manage Stock Library:
The Stock Library application on the Control Center enables you to create and manage a library of frequently-used stocks. Operators or administrators can define attributes for a stock, such as size, color, type, and weight, and assign the stock to a paper tray.
The administrator allows or restricts access to the Stock Library. If access is restricted, the Manage Stock Library button does not display on the main Control Center window and operators cannot edit or delete stocks from the library.
Note: If the Manage Stock Library button is not displayed under the Function menu on the main window, contact your administrator for more information.
Select the Manage Stock Library button to open the Manage Stock Library window. The Manage Stock Library window contains the Recommended Media List (RML) and the Stock Library list:
Recommended Media List (RML): The RML is a Xerox-supplied list of recommended stocks for the press. From this list, you can assign stocks to trays or add them to the Stock Library.
Stock Library: Much like the RML, this list contains the names of all the stocks that are available for the press. Unlike the RML, this is a list of stocks that were either created by the user or copied and/or edited from the Recommended Media List (RML). From this list, you can easily select a stock for any paper tray for printing.
Manage Stock Library Window
The Manage Stock Library window displays the Recommended Media List (RML) at the top of the window and the Stock Library list at the bottom. The RML is a read-only list. You can select a stock from either location and assign that stock to a paper tray. When you select a stock, the following actions are available:
Default Layout: Select this option to return the Manage Stock Library view to its original layout.
Properties : Allows you to view and/or change the properties of stocks listed in the Stock Library list. The stock name can not be edited or changed. Properties of a stock in the RML can be viewed only; the properties can not be changed.
Create New : Allows you to create and save a new stock to the Stock Library list.
Copy : Allows the user to copy an existing stock from either the RML or the Stock Library list, edit the stock properties, and save it to the Stock Library as a new stock.
Delete : Allows the user to delete (remove) a stock from the Stock Library list.
Add to Stock Library : Allows the user to add a stock from the RML to the Stock Library list.
Sorting: Select either Use Columns or Sort Manually.
Move to Top/Move to Bottom buttons: Moves a stock up or down in the Stock Library list.
Close: Closes the window and exits the Manage Stock Library window.
The Recommended Media List (RML) is a Xerox-supplied list of recommended stocks for the press. It can be downloaded from www.xerox.com to appear above the Stock Library list on the Manage Stock Library window.
The RML is a read-only list. You cannot directly add, delete, or edit the stocks. From the Recommended Media List, you can copy a stock to the Stock Library, copy and edit a stock before moving it to the Stock Library, view the properties of a stock, or assign an RML stock to paper trays.
Always refer to the Recommended Media List to view specific stocks recommended for the press. The Recommended Media List is updated as required to include new papers and other media.
