If you were prompted to reboot (power OFF, then power ON) the system to enable changes made to network communication settings or for another reason, perform the following procedure.
CAUTION: Follow these procedures to correctly power OFF and power ON (POPO) the machine. While performing a POPO may seem self-explanatory, there are a few conventions to adhere to in order to avoid damage to the machine and / or loss of data.
NOTE: Certain error conditions may occur if the machine is powered OFF, then powered ON too quickly. After the printer has been powered OFF, wait at least 30 seconds before powering ON.
Make sure the left and right print engine front doors are closed before performing a Shut Down or power ON.
Power OFF the digital system:
NOTE: If the machine is in Low Power Mode, you must press a key on the keyboard to activate the machine before powering OFF.
From the DocuSP or FreeFlow Print Server Display Screen, logon as Operator or System Administrator. See the Related Content for additional information.
Click on [System] from the toolbar, then select [Shutdown]. A window will be displayed asking if you want to proceed with the Shutdown.
Click [Yes] or [Interrupt] to perform the shutdown or click [No] to cancel the operation.
Clicking Yes will perform a 'System Shutdown' which is the most controlled shutdown, which completes jobs currently printing or scanning.
Clicking Interrupt a will perform an 'Immediate Shutdown' which will cause the system to abort all on-going jobs, stop accepting new jobs, and execute a controlled shutdown.
NOTE: An Immediate Shutdown may take up to 3 minutes to complete. A System Shutdown may take longer since it completes printing current jobs before initiating the power down sequence.
Wait for the status window to finish displaying the 'Power down in progress' message, then power OFF any third party peripheral equipment.
Power ON the digital system:
Power ON any third party peripheral equipment.
NOTE: Xerox equipment modules do not have power buttons as they are powered ON electronically.Press the [|] symbol on the power switch to power ON. The power switch is the white switch located on the front of the machine and to the the right of the DocuSP or FreeFlow Display Screen. The system begins its power ON / boot sequence. As the system powers ON, both the Ethernet address (Network Interface Card - NIC hardware address) and the hostname are displayed on the DocuSP or FreeFlow Display Screen.
NOTE: Do not click anywhere on the DocuSP or FreeFlow Display Screen before the machine completes the boot sequence. The system will take several minutes before it is ready for use.
The system is ready when the DocuSP or FreeFlow Display Screen displays 'Scanner Idle' and 'Printer Idle' respectively in the status window.
