Note: Before solving the problem, print the Print Quality Test Pages. From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Troubleshooting > Print Quality Test Pages. For non-touch-screen printer models, press OK to navigate through the settings.
Turn off the printer, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
Decrease toner darkness. From the control panel, navigate to: Settings > Print > Quality > Toner Darkness.
Print the document. If the file does not print successfully, proceed with step 4.
Check if the printer is using a genuine and supported Xerox toner cartridge.
Note: If the toner cartridge is not supported, then install a supported one. For details, refer toReplace a Toner Cartridge.Print the document. If the file does not print successfully, proceed with step 6.
Depending on your operating system, specify the paper type from the Printing Preferences or Print dialog.
Make sure that the setting matches the paper loaded.
You can also change the setting from the printer control panel. Navigate to Settings > Paper > Tray Configuration > Paper Size/Type.
Print the document. If the file does not print successfully, proceed with step 8.
Remove, and then insert the imaging unit. For details, refer toRemove and Reinsert the Imaging Unit.
CAUTION: Do not expose the imaging unit to direct light for more than 10 minutes. Extended exposure to light may cause print quality problems.
CAUTION: Do not touch the photoconductor drum. Doing so may affect the quality of future print jobs.Print the document. If the file does not print successfully, proceed with step 10.
Update the printer firmware. For more information, refer to Upgrade the Firmware / Software
Print the document. If the file does not print successfully, proceed with step 12.
Replace the imaging unit.Replace an Imaging Kit.
Print the document.
If the problem persists, contact Support for additional assistance.
