NOTE: After creating the first profile, it is recommended that you create a Custom Profile directly from the FreeFlow Print Server (FFPS) to make sure the profile is associated correctly with the stock.
Running a System Check determines if a new profile is needed. Before running the profiling procedure, the Engine Check procedure must have passed and the TRC Linearization procedure performed and completed.
IMPORTANT:Make sure a Custom Profile exists before profiling from the Color Maintenance Tool (CMT). If needed, the CMT will update the existing profile on the recommended stock. If a new profile has not been created at the Print Server, the CMT will overwrite the existing default profiles on FFPS. To initially create a custom profile, See the Related Content for additional information.
NOTE: Applying the Standard White Stock destination profile to other stocks in the workflow will generally provide good color rendition.
This may not be true if the stock contains a different white point such as yellow or pink paper.
In this case, create a new Color Group with a new destination profile at the FFPS.
When using a color stock other than white, make sure to create a new Color Group and add that special stock into the Color Group at the FFPS before profiling at the CMT.
When the System Check operation fails "Patches Out of Range" error, select [DFE Profiling] from the Expert tab of the CMT and select [Start].
The Status screen of the CMT window displays an "in-progress" message.
The printer system prints the target document to the stacker on the specified stock and the warm up job to the top tray.
The Inline Spectrophotometer reads and saves the target patches to a file.
The FFPS retrieves the scanned data and either updates the destination profile for the stock being used in the CMT process or creates a new destination profile for the specific GCR, stock and color group.
When the profile is created successfully, the profile is applied to the stock being used.
Rerun the System Check in the CMT window on the Printer Interface. See the Related Content for additional information. If running this process fails, Contact Support for additional assistance.
NOTE: If the DFE Profiling operation is interrupted for any reason, a paper jam or adjusting print quality, the profiling process will need to be restarted by selecting [DFE Profiling].
NOTE: If the profile that was just created is to be applied to other Color Groups, access the DFE and assign the profile to another stock. See the Related Content for additional information.
