This operation is the main corrective step to take for a failed Engine Check. Also, perform this operation before updating a Custom Profile. The TRC Linearization step calibrates the Print Engine back to a known good color state.
When you select and start TRC Linearization after an Engine Check has failed, the system prints the TRC Linearization Target document using a set of special dots. It then uses the Inline Spectrophotometer (ILS) to read and perform spectrophotometric measurements of the patches on the TRC Linearization Target document.
If this step passes, return to Perform an Engine Check and use those steps to rerun the Engine Check and then a System Check. See the Related Content for additional information.
Perform a Tone Response Curve (TRC) Linearization
Select [Options] from the toolbar on the Printer Interface (PI).
Select [Color Maintenance Tool] from the pull-down menu.
Select the [Engine TRC Linearization] radio button under the Verification and Recovery section.
Make sure that mode, stock, and halftone screens are set under the Options section.
Select the [Start] button.
If this step fails:
For a Color Maintenance Tool (CMT) fault, check that the correct paper is loaded in the tray and rerun TRC Linearization. See the Related Content for additional information.
For a Solids fault, refer to Perform dC0951 Xerographic Setup and follow all the steps in this procedure for running diagnostic routine dc951. See the Related Content for additional information.
If the dC951 and dC610 routines have already been run and TRC Linearization still fails, Contact Support for additional assistance.
