Fault Code: 31.40C and 31.60C Errors Appearing on the Printer

A "Re-install missing or unresponsive imaging unit 31.60C" error message appears on the printer display.

  1. Perform a power-on-reset (POR) by powering the printer off and power it back on. For more information, refer to Power the Printer Off and On.

  2. Open the printer front door and remove the supplies.

  3. Remove the toner cartridge from the imaging unit to separate the two supplies.

  4. Inspect the toner or imaging unit for any debris, packing material, or damage.

  5. Insert the toner cartridge back to the imaging unit, install back the supplies to the printer and close the front door.

  6. Replace the Toner Cartridge.

    Note: Make Sure a Genuine Xerox Toner (Dry Ink) Cartridge is Being Used. Off brand or white label products can adversely affect the operation of the device and are not supported.

  7. If the error persists, replace the Imaging Unit. For details, refer to Replace the Imaging Unit.

  8. If the problem persists, contact Support for additional assistance.
