This document will provide step-by-step instructions on how to set up scanning using a ScanBox on a Creo Server (version 1.5).

NOTE: This solution requires knowledge of the network on which the printer is installed and may require the assistance of a System Administrator.

The following is required in order to set up scanning:

  • The Remote Scan Application must be installed on the Creo Server that has a monitor, keyboard and mouse enabled, or you must have access to the Creo Server on a client workstation via a Remote Desktop connection or on any computer on the network with Remote Scan Application installed. 

  • A valid SMB share is required to send the document to the required location. 

There are several steps involved in setting up scanning on the Creo Server:

  1. Install the Remote Scan Application on the Creo Server or a client workstation.

  2. Create a ScanBox.

  3. Configure the Creo Server to access the client, if necessary.

To Install the Remote Scan Application:

If you are using a Creo Server with a monitor, keyboard and mouse enabled, or accessing the Creo Server from a Remote desktop session:

  1. Open My Computer/D:/Utilities/PC Utilities/. 

  2. Click on the [Remote Scan.exe] file and run the installer to install the Remote Scan application. 

  3. If necessary, reboot the server.

  4. From a client workstation, open a web browser window and enter the IP address of the Creo server in the Address field.  The Creo’s Web Center window will be displayed.

  5. Click on the [Downloads] link.

  6. Click on [Utilities Folder] under PC Downloads.

  7. Click on [RemoteScan.exe] and save or open to begin the install process.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the download.

  9. Reboot the client workstation when finished. 

To Open the Remote Scan Application:

  1. Click on the [Start] button on the taskbar, select [Programs], then [Creo], then [Remote Scan Application], and then click on [Remote Scan]. 

  2. Enter the Server Name (Host name) or IP address of the Creo in the Server Name or IP field, and then click on [Connect]. The connection icon will join together and turn from red to green to signify a connection has been established with the server’s scanning.  The Remote Scan Application’s window will be displayed where you can access scans, create edit and delete Scan Boxes.
