Checking the Software Version
You can update your printer when Xerox releases a new version of printer software or firmware. Before you download and install new software, determine the current software version installed on your printer.
To determine the firmware version from the Embedded Web Server:
Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator.
Click System.
Click Software Update.
For Current Version, make note of the version number.
To determine the firmware version at the printer control panel:
At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
Touch Device, then Software Update.
For Current Version, make note of the version number
Enabling Upgrades
Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator.
Click System, then Software Update.
In the Software Update area, click Enable.
Enabling Firmware Verification
This feature is enabled by default. If it is disabled, you can configure the printer to ensure that all installed firmware files are certified properly for the device. To enable firmware verification:
Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator.
Click System, then Security.
In the Security area, click Firmware Verification.
Select On, then click OK.
Four Methods for Upgrading the Printer Software / Firmware
There are four methods for upgrading the printer firmware, which are listed below.
For network connected devices, Xerox recommends using Method 1 (Automatic Update with Remote Services)
For devices connected via a USB cable, Xerox recommends using Method 3 (Manual Update using theFirmware Update Tool)
The four methods for upgrading firmware are:
Automatically update with Remote Services.
Manually update by downloading the .bin file and update in the Embedded Web Server.
Manually update by downloading the Firmware Update Tool and the firmware .bin file, and perform the update manually.
Manually search for updates at the printer control panel.
Method 1: Automatically update with Remote Services
WARNING: It is highly recommended to consult with your Network or System Administrator before performing any software (firmware) update. Some updates may cause the printer to become non-compliant and cease to work as intended with the environment in which it is installed.
Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator.
Click System, then Software Update.
Check that Software updates are enabled. If not, click Enable to enable them.
Click Check Now.
Click Install Now.
NOTE: The message "Please Wait…" may be displayed for several minutes.Click Agree to accept the license agreement.
NOTE: It may take up to 15 minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete. When the upgrade is complete, the printer will reboot automatically.Check the software version (see above) to ensure the update was successful.
Method 2:Manually update by downloading the .bin file and update in the Embedded Web Server
WARNING: It is highly recommended to consult with your Network or System Administrator before performing any software (firmware) update. Some updates may cause the printer to become non-compliant and cease to work as intended with the environment in which it is installed.
NOTE: The following solution requires firmware version XX.10.41 or later.
Download the latest firmware general release file from the Xerox Drivers and Downloads page.
Extract the general release firmware .zip file and save the firmware general release .bin file to a known location.
Log in to the Embedded Web Server as administrator. See the Related Content for additional information.
Click System, then Software Update.
Find the section named Update with File Specified, then click Select.
Browse to the file location where the previously downloaded *.bin file has been saved to in step 2 and select it.
Click Open.
Click Install Now.
NOTE: The message “Please Wait…” may be displayed for several minutes.Click Agree to accept the license agreement.
NOTE: It may take up to 15 minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete. When the upgrade is complete, the printer will reboot automatically.Check the software version (see above) to ensure the update was successful.
Method 3:Manually update by downloading the Firmware Update Tool and the firmware .bin file, and perform the update manually

Download the Firmware Download Utility and the latest firmware general release .zip file from the Xerox Drivers and Downloads page.
Extract the .zip file for the Firmware Download Utility and the .zip file for the firmware general release.
Double-click the file named FWDLMgr.exe.
At the prompt for the License Agreement, click Accept.
Select the correct printer model from the Printer Model drop-down menu.
Click Browse and navigate to the file location of the firmware .bin file that was previously downloaded.
Click Add to assign the firmware to the printer.
Click Next.
Select the appropriate connection type, Network or USB, and click Next. For USB connections, skip to step 11.
For Network connections only, type the printer’s IP address or Host Name or select Search From Network, then click Search.
Click Next.
NOTE: It may take up to 15 minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete. When the upgrade is complete, the printer will reboot automatically.Check the software version (see above) to ensure the update was successful.
Method 4:Manually search for updates at the printer control panel

At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
Log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator.
Touch Device, then Software Update, and then Check Now.
Select the software version.
Touch Install Now or Schedule.
NOTE: If Check Now fails, configure the Proxy Server and Remote Services features as needed by your network, or follow the instructions for updating the software manually in methods 1, 2, or 3 above.
