How To Customize or Personalize the Home Screen

Customize and Personalize Overview:

You can customize your apps, hide, or show apps on the Home screen, and rearrange the order to suit your job priorities. For each app, you can hide or show individual features and configure default settings to meet the needs of your workgroup. You can save job settings for repeated use. Customization enables users to work more productively.

You can create 1-Touch Apps to save and simplify lengthy or frequent workflows. Once created, 1-Touch Apps appear on the Home screen. To start a job, touch the app.
Personalization options ensure that the features and functions displayed meet individual user needs, improving efficiency.

The customize and personalize settings are configured by a system administrator.

System administrators can use the Fleet Orchestrator feature to clone and install 1–Touch Apps on other devices.

Customize the Home Screen Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

In the Embedded Web Server, you can show, hide, or change the display order of apps on the control panel touch screen.

  • To customize app features, refer to Customizing the Home Screen at the Control Panel.

  • To create a 1–Touch App, refer to Creating a 1-Touch App.

Displaying or Hiding Apps:

You can show or hide apps on the control panel touch screen. 

Note: You cannot hide apps that are required for basic device operation.

  1. Access the Embedded Web Server and login as System Administrator. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server

  2. In the Embedded Web Server, click Properties > Apps > Display.

  3. Click Show/Hide.

  4. • To select all apps in the list to appear on the touch screen, click Show All.

  5. • To hide all apps in the list so that no apps appear on the touch screen, click Hide All.

  6. • To select individual apps to appear on the touch screen, for Displayed, select the apps that you want to appear.

  7. Click Apply.

  8. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server


Customize the Home Screen From the Control Panel:

Displaying or Hiding an App on the Home screen:

Note: To use this feature, log in as a system administrator.

  1. Login as System Administrator at the Control Panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Touch Log In. Type the User Name using the keypad, then touch Next. Type the Password using the keypad, then touch Done.

  4. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  5. Touch Customize Home.

  6. To display an installed, but hidden app:

    1. Touch the Plus (+) icon.

    2. Touch the app that you want to appear on the control panel.

  7. To hide an installed app:

    1. For the required app, touch X.

    2. Touch Hide.

  8. Touch Done.

  9. Verify that only the required apps appear on the Home screen.

  10. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Setting the Display Order for Apps:

You can arrange the order in which apps appear on the control panel touch screen.

  1. Access the Embedded Web Server and login as System Administrator. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server

  2. In the Embedded Web Server, click Properties > Apps > Display.

  3. Click the Order tab.

  4. Select, drag, and drop the buttons on the screen until they are in the preferred order.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server

Customize the Home Screen at the Control Panel:

At the Control Panel, to customize the Home screen or app features, log in as an administrator.
Rearranging Apps on the Home Screen:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  4. Touch Customize Home.

  5. Touch and hold the required app.

  6. Drag the app to the new location, then release the app.

  7. Touch Done.

  8. Verify that the apps appear in the correct location on the Home screen.

  9. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to  Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Deleting an App from the Home Screen:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel.  Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  4. Touch Customize Home.

  5. To delete an installed app:

    1. For the desired app, touch X.

    2. At the prompt, touch Delete.

      Note: Deletion is permanent. You cannot restore a deleted app.

    3. Touch Done.

  6. Verify that only the desired apps appear on the Home screen.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Customizing App Features:

To customize the Feature list for an app:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Touch the app required.

  4. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  5. Touch Customize Feature List.

  6. Touch the particular option.

    • To hide a feature, for the required feature, touch the Eye icon. To signify that the feature is hidden, the Eye icon appears with a line across it.

    • To show a feature, for the required feature, touch the Eye icon. To signify that a feature is visible, the Eye icon appears with no line across it.

  7. To reorder the menu features, touch and drag the features into the appropriate order.

  8. To save the current configuration, touch Done.

  9. Logout of System Administrator mode. Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Customizing App Default Settings:

To customize the default settings for an app:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Touch the app required.

  4. Configure the required default settings.

  5. Touch Save.

  6. Touch Save Settings as Default. The new settings override the previous default settings.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Removing App Customization Settings:

To remove the current app customization settings:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Touch the app required.

  4. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  5. Touch Remove App Customizations.

  6. At the prompt, touch Remove.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

Removing Customization from the Home Screen:

To remove customization from the Home screen:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

  3. Scroll to the bottom, then touch Customize.

  4. Select an option:

    • Remove Home Customization: This option removes all customization from the Home screen.

      Note: This option can cause deletion of 1-Touch, EIP, Single Touch, and Weblet apps.

    • Remove All Customizations: This option removes all customizations for the device.

      Caution: The Remove Home Customization option removes customization from the Home screen, and other customized device settings.

  5. At the prompt, touch Remove. Apps appear in their default location on the Home screen.

  6. Touch Done.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel
