Find the Version and Printer Language (PCL, PS, GPD) for a Microsoft Windows Print Driver

Find the Print Driver Version:

1. Open the Printers window. See the Related Content for additional information.

2. Right click on the printer icon and select Printing Preferences from the pop-up menu.

3. Click on the Advanced tab.

4. Click on the + beside About to expand.

5. Click on About.

6. Click on the About button.

7. Record the driver version number and model number.
   
   Note: If a model number is displayed, you are using the device specific print driver. If Basic Printing Mode is displayed, you are using the Global Print Driver (GPD).
   
   

8. Click X to close the window.

9. Click Cancel to close the Printing Preferences window.

Find the Print Driver Language:

1. Open the Printers window. See the Related Content for additional information.

2. Right click on the printer icon and select Printer Properties from the pop-up menu.

3. Click on the Advanced tab.

4. Look at the Driver menu.

5. • PS will display if using the PostScript driver

   • The printer model will display if using the PCL driver

   • Xerox Global Print Driver will display if using the GPD driver

6. Click on Cancel to close the Printing Preferences window.
