When attempting to ping the printer, a Request Timed Out response indicates the ping command was sent over the network, but no device (such as a computer or printer) on the network received or replied to the command.
If unable to ping the printer, perform the following:
Power the printer off, wait 15 seconds, and then power the printer back on. Wait a few minutes, and then try to ping the printer again.
Print a Configuration Report and make sure you are pinging the correct IP Address. The assigned IP Address will be displayed on the report under the Network Setup section. To print a Configuration Report, press and hold the red Cancel button on the printer control panel for about 4 seconds. When the Printer Status LED blinks fast, release the button.
Make sure the assigned IP Address is a valid IP Address for your network.
If possible, try to ping the printer from another computer. If successful from another computer, the initial computer may not be configured properly.
If connected to the network via a wired (Ethernet) cable:
Disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable from the back of the printer. Make sure it is securely connected.
Check the Ethernet cable connection at the network port, hub, switch, or router. Disconnect and reconnect the cable and make sure it it securely connected.
If connecting to a hub, switch, or router, make sure both the printer and computer are not plugged into the Uplink port. This port is for connecting other hubs, switches, or routers.
If the computer is able to ping other devices on the network, replace the Ethernet cable that connects to the back of the printer with a known working cable.
If the problem persists, contact Support for additional assistance.
