CAUTION: New IP Filtering Rules will come into effect once created. Use Caution not to create any IP Filtering rules that will restrict access from an Administration computer as any incorrect IP Filtering rules could render the device inaccessable. It is strongly recommended that this procedure be performed by a System Administrator.
Select the Properties tab.
Select Security.
Select IP Filtering.
Select Add IP Filter to create a filter.
Select the required option under the Step 1: Define Protocol section:
All - Restricts all IP Traffic.
TCP - Restricts all IP Traffic using the Transmission Control Protocol, such as LPR and RAW Printing.
UDP - Restricts all IP Traffic using the User Datagram Protocol.
ICMP - Restricts all IP Traffic using the Internet Control Message Protocol, such as PING requests.
Select the required option under the Step 2: Define Action section:
Accept - Allows all connections to the device from IP Addresses in the defined IP Range.
Drop - Prevents access to the device from IP Addresses in the defined IP Range, with no response.
Reject - Prevents access to the device from IP Addresses in the defined IP Range, with a Rejection given.
Enter the Specific IP Address or Network Identifier Address for the required Subnet into the Source IP Address field under the Step 3: Define Source section.
NOTE: The Network Identifier Address is the part of the IP Address that defines the subnet, as defined by the Subnet Mask. For example, an IP Address with the range of 192.168.1.x, and a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0, will have a Network ID of 192.168.1.0.Enter the Subnet Mask of the IP Address into the Source IP Mask field, expressed in Bit Length format. (ie: a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0 will have a Bit Length of 24.)
Enter the Port to be filtered into the Destination Port field if TCP or UDP Protocols were selected.
Enter the message type to be filtered into the ICMP Message Type field if the ICMP Protocol was selected.
Select the Required option from the Precedence Order dropdown.
Lowest - The new rule will be given Lowest Priority and added to the bottom of the list of any existing IP Filter Rules in place.
Highest - The new rule will be given Highest Priority and added to the top of the list of any existing IP Filter Rules in place.
Select Save to save the new IP Filter Rule.
