The Health Check option will perform several checks on the device to ensure all required configurations are working. Use this as a next step if reboot procedure fails to get device online.
The health check is only available in Tablet Software version 08.04.XX.XXXX and above. To verify the tablet software version, refer to OFFICE DEPOT ONLY: How To Verify the Tablet Version
Left swipe on the tablet.
Select Payment Login. Do NOT enter any login credentials.
Select the Health check button below the Password field to launch the health check routine. A red “X” will show what is preventing the device from functioning correctly.
If all options are verified with a green check mark, and the PinPad swipe is still not functioning, refer the customer to their Office Depot IT for support.
If a red “X” is displayed, review the appropriate steps below.
Store Number Check
If this is RED then the store number in the system does not match the actual store number. Possible scenario is the device was moved to another store or there is a network connection issue.
Refer to OFFICE DEPOT Only: How To Verify Store Number
Corporate Server Connection
If this is RED then the most likely problem is the Date/Time in the device is wrong. By wrong, not just 7-35 minutes off, but seriously wrong like the wrong month/year. The corporate server will see this as a security problem. This can be caused if the printer is powered off and not plugged in for some time.
If the above Date\Time has reverted back to the year 2000, place a service call to have the tablet internal battery (Type 3volt DL2430) replaced.
If the Date\Time is correct, check to see if the Corporate Server is failing on all the Self Serve devices.
Yes – Refer customer to OFD IT for possible POS issues.
No - Place a service call.
Refer to OFFICE DEPOT Only: How To Verify the Date and Time
Store Server Connection
If this is RED then the Corporate Server connection will also be RED. There is a network problem with the printer.
Using the round-key from the Multifunction Kiosk Security Kit, unlock the Controller Unit Security Door located on the right side of the printer.
Make sure the network cable is securely connected. There should be a green/amber light where the network cable is plugged into the machine.
If there is no light, then the network cable and or network port is bad. Ask the customer to replace the network cable first. (The network cable can be replaced by the OFD associate by pulling one for store use from the store.)If, after replacing the cable, there is still no green/amber light on the device showing activity, then place a service call to “verify NIC/Hub/USB, no network connection”.
If, after replacing the cable, there is a green/amber light but the store server connection is still red, verify the network settings.
Refer to OFFICE DEPOT Only: How To Verify Network Settings
MFD Connection
If this is RED then the tablet is not able to verify that the main printer power is on.
If the above does not resolve the issue, verify that the main printer is actually powered on by lifting and closing the document handler. Does the light under the scanner turn on\off?
No – Check once again to ensure both switches are in the correct position. If you are sure they are, and the light under the scanner does not activate, place a service call for “MFP will not power on”.
Yes – Reboot the tablet only once more. If still not resolved, place a service call for “Tablet will not connect to MFP”.
PinPad Connection
If this is RED then the Card Reader has a fault of some type. Keep in mind that just rebooting the tablet and/or card reader may fix this. If not, then we have issues to resolve:
Is the PinPad power cycling itself off and on and beeping?
Yes (the PinPad is power cycling itself off and on and beeping)
| No (the PinPad is not power cycling itself off and on and beeping) Is there anything displayed on the PinPad?
