After swiping their card, the solid red light on the card reader changes to flashing green and then returns to solid red.  No message appears on the MFP console, but the device remains locked.  This indicates that the USB Card Reader is unable to communicate with the MFP device.

  1. Power Off the Printer, Wait Two Minutes, then Power On the Printer.

  2. If problem does not change this indicates the USB Card Reader is in an idle state. If the LED remains red, and the UI remains locked after a card is swiped, re-orient the card and re-swipe.

  3. Try a known good card in the USB Card Reader. If the other card is working on the problem Card Reader, make sure the card corresponds to a valid Secure Access Account.

  4. Try card in a known good reader. If the card is working on other known good Card Reader, it may be a problem with the Secure Access USB Card Reader. Replace the Secure Access USB Card Reader.
