Download and Upgrade the Press Software Remotely

Instructions

 

When connected to the Internet, the press receives remote software upgrades for software version 6.0.4x or later. To download and upgrade the software remotely, do the following:

  1. When a new software version is available, a warning appears on the status bar of the Control Center. To upgrade the software, click the warning icon. A window opens that shows the full warning message.

    Note: Before you initiate the software upgrade, close all active print jobs. 

  2. Follow the instructions that appear in the warning message. Open any front door of the press, then in the warning message window, click Start. A window with an End User License Agreement (EULA) appears.

    Note: When a door of the press is opened, a window appears that instructs you to close the Transport Module and Output Module doors. To return to the software upgrade instructions, in this window, click Close.

  3. The End User License Agreement is displayed in a language that is set by the administrator. You can change the language of the license agreement from the EULA menu, as needed. To run the software installation, in the End User License Agreement, click Agree.

  4. For User Account Control, click Accept. The press enters diagnostic mode and the software installs. The Command Prompt windows show that the software installation is in progress.

    Important: Do not close any of the Command Prompt windows during the installation process. 

  5. When the software upgrade completes, if there is no error, the Control Center restarts with the new software version, automatically.

  6. After the Control Center restarts, make sure to power on the press. If the press does not power on after 1 minute, do the following:

    1. Open the right door on the Press Transport Module.

    2. Toggle the red switch to Off and wait for 10 seconds.

    3. Toggle the red switch to On and close the door.

    4. Power on the press from the usual external power switch.

  7. To verify that your press is upgraded to the latest software, at the Control Center PC, click System > Machine Details, then view the System Software version. If there is an error, to complete the installation, contact a Xerox service representative.
