Domain Name System (DNS) is a system that maps host names to IP addresses.
NOTE: The images in this procedure are for demonstration purposes only and may not specifically match your printer model; colors, icons, and other minor differences may exist.
NOTE: There are different methods that may be used to configure DNS. Choose your preferred method.
Configure DNS at the Kiosk Touch Screen
Configure DNS in CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS)
To Configure DNS at the Kiosk Touch Screen:
IMPORTANT: You must know the login information in order to perform this procedure. If necessary, contact your System Administrator for additional assistance.
Login to the kiosk User Interface (UI) as Administrator.
Access Device Management.
Login to configuration settings as Administrator at the kiosk Touch Screen (Xerox Tools menu).
To view the Device menu, place your finger at the right edge of the screen and drag your finger left. This action is called a "right swipe."
Touch Machine Status. The Machine Status screen displays.
Right swipe the right side of the User Interface to hide the Tools menu. To hide the Tools menu:
Touch anywhere on the Tools menu and swipe right.
Touch the screen anywhere outside of the Tools menu.
Touch the Tools tab.
Touch Network Settings.
Touch TCP/IP Settings.
Touch DNS Configuration.
Touch Host Name.
Touch the Requested Host Name field.
Enter a host name using the keyboard on the UI then touch OK.
Touch Close.
NOTE: If DHCP is enabled, your DHCP server can provide the following information.Touch Domain Name.
Touch the Requested Domain Name field.
Enter the domain name using the keypad on the UI then touch OK.
Touch Close.
Touch DNS Servers.
Touch the Primary DNS Server field.
Enter the server address using the keyboard on the UI then touch OK.
If necessary, touch the Alternate DNS Server #1 field.
Enter the server address using the keyboard on the UI then touch OK.
If necessary, touch the Alternate DNS Server #2 field.
Enter the server address using the keyboard on the UI then touch OK.
Touch Close twice.
To apply the settings, touch Finish.
Logout of configuration settings as Administrator at the kiosk Touch Screen (Xerox Tools menu).

Exit Device Management.
Logout of the kiosk User Interface (UI) as Administrator.
To Configure DNS in CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS):
IMPORTANT: You must know the login information in order to perform this procedure. If necessary, contact your System Administrator for additional assistance.
Login to the kiosk User Interface (UI) as Administrator.
Login to configuration settings as Administrator in Xerox CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS).
Select the Properties tab.
Touch Connectivity→Setup.
In the Network area, for the Wired Connection profile, touch Edit.
For IP (Internet Protocol), touch Edit.
On the IP (Internet Protocol) page, for DNS, touch Show DNS Settings.
For Requested Host Name, type a unique name for your kiosk. If the host name registers to the DNS server successfully, the host name appears as a Verified Host Name. The default host name is XRXxxx, where xxx is the MAC address of the kiosk.
Note: If no host name appears, the host name did not register to the DNS server successfully. Configure your DHCP server to perform updates on behalf of the DHCP clients.For Requested Domain Name, type the name of the domain to which the kiosk is connected. If the domain name registers to the DNS server successfully, the domain name appears as a Verified Domain Name.
Note: If no domain name appears, the domain name did not register successfully to the DNS server. Configure your DHCP server to perform updates on behalf of the DHCP clients.To allow users to see and connect to the kiosk using Bonjour, for Multicast DNS Registration, select Enabled.
For Release this connection's DHCP leases and DNS registrations, select Enabled as needed. This option allows the kiosk to send a release request to the DHCP and DNS servers. If the serversgrant the request, the servers release the current IP address and dynamic DNS names. The IP addresses and DNS names renew immediately and when the kiosk is turned off.
For Additional DNS Server Addresses, type addresses as needed. If you have a DHCP server, recognized addresses appear in the DNS Server Addresses list.
For DNS Connection Timeout, type the time in seconds that the kiosk waits to connect to a DNS server. After the timeout period, the kiosk attempts to connect to any additional DNS servers.
To add the kiosk domain to the Domain Name Search List, for Append Device Domain, select Enabled.
To add the parent domains of the kiosk to the Domain Name Search List, for Append Parent Domains, select Enabled.
If you have a DHCP server, recognized search domain names appear in the Domain Name Search List. The list of domain names allows the DNS server to recognize unqualified host names. If you want the kiosk to search for other domain names, for Additional Search Domains, type the names.
Touch Apply.
Logout of configuration settings as Administrator in Xerox CentreWare Interenet Services (CWIS).
Logout of the kiosk User Interface (UI) as Administrator.
To renew the DNS, restart the kiosk user interface user interface. Refer to Restart / Reboot the User Interface (UI) (Touch Screen) (Tablet).
