CAUTION: Before installing the version of the AdobePS print driver that is available for this set up, the Xerox PPDs, or the PlugIn, remove any old Adobe drivers, Xerox PPDs, and Xerox printer PlugIns from the Printer Descriptions folder in the Hard Drive:System Folder:Extensions folder. Deleting the AdobePS print driver and the AdobePS Prefs will delete all printers using the AdobePS print driver along with their preferred settings. See step #10 for how to restore these later.
NOTE: This solution assumes that the correct print driver for this product and the operating system you are using has been downloaded and extracted to a known location on the desktop or on a disk.
From the Mac workstation, if using desktop printer icons, delete the desktop printer icon associated with the problem printer by dragging the printer to the Trash.
Delete the AdobePS print driver and the Adobe Printing Library, located in the System Folder: Extensions folder.
From the desktop, double-click on the hard drive icon, double-click the [System Folder], and then double-click [Extensions].
Delete the AdobePS print driver and the Adobe Printing Library, by dragging each of these items to the Trash.
Delete the PPD for the problem printer, located in the System folder \\ Extensions folder \\ Printer Descriptions folder.
From the desktop, double-click on the hard drive icon, double-click [System Folder], double-click [Extensions], and then double-click the [Printer Descriptions] folder.
Delete the PPD for the problem printer by dragging this item to the Trash.
CAUTION: Be careful not to delete the actual Printing Preferences folder since this will delete the Apple LaserWriter and Adobe printers. You should only delete the entire Printing Prefs folder (including the AdobePS Prefs, LaserWriter Prefs, Parsed PPD) for instances when it is suspected that more than just the Adobe printer driver is part of the problem.
Delete the AdobePS Prefs, located in the System \\ Preferences \\ Printing Preferences folder.
From the desktop, double-click on the hard drive icon, double-click [System Folder], double-click [Preferences], and then double-click [Printing Preferences] folder.

Delete the contents of the Parsed PPD folder by dragging the items to the Trash.
NOTE: Do not delete the Parsed PPD folder.
Empty the Trash Can by clicking [Special] from the toolbar, and then click [Empty Trash].
Restart the Mac. Click on the Apple icon in the upper, left corner of the window, and then click [restart] from the drop-down menu.
Rebuild the desktop, by pressing and holding down the [CMD] and [Option] keys simultaneously while the Mac is restarting. The CMD (command) key has an Apple icon on it. Continue holding the CMD and Option keys down until the message 'Are you sure you want to rebuild the desktop file on the disk HDD?' appears on the Display Screen. Release the [CMD] and [Option] keys, and then click on the [OK] button. Wait until the desktop file is rebuilt.
To make sure the Apple LaserWriter printer library continues to work after this re-installation, copy the printinglib from the System Folder folder \\ Extensions folder to the desktop until after the Adobe driver is installed, then copy the file back to the original location after performing step #10.
Double-click on the hard drive icon, double-click the [System Folder], double-click the [Extensions] folder.Re-install the print driver. The driver installation should include the Adobe driver and PPD. For AppleTalk connections: In Chooser, setup the printer for the proper PPD.

Be sure to restore any preferred settings for the various printers, as needed.Copy the Apple LaserWriter printer library 'printinglib' from the desktop back to the original location.
Before trying to print again, make sure that Background Printing is disabled (Off). When the print driver is installed the default for Background Printing is enabled (On), this setting can cause a number of problems when printing:
From the desktop, click [File] from the toolbar, then click [Print Desktop] or [Print Window].
Click on [Background Printing] from the pull-down menu, and set to [Foreground (no spool file)].
Click the [Save Settings] button.

Click [Print] to print.
