Commercial Stocks

Many Commercially available stocks are designed for digital printing others may not be appropriate for digital print or require additional performance testing.

Consult with your paper supplier to confirm product is intended for iGen use.

Silk Stock 

Many printing technologies including the iGen Family using certain types of silk or matte media, the printed output may experience ink rub, also referred to as smudging, smearing, chalking or scuffing from contact with the adjacent sheet. Selecting a different brand, adding a protective coating the finish of printed or adjacent media will reduce or eliminate this effect.

Matte and silk media have an abrasive surface that creates abrasive rubbing between sheets during transport, or heavy handling, finishing, or shipping operations. The abrasive movement picks up surface ink from imaged areas into non-imaged areas. For best results test the post print finishing and handling of output using the desired medias. 

Xerox Stocks

Xerox offers a wide variety of papers and specialty media guaranteed to run well on the iGen 5 Press though Domtar in the North America and Antalis in Western Europe. Refer to GML / MCM for complete compatibility of Xerox offerings for the iGen 5 Press.

Tee Shirt Transfers

Supported runs at rated speed.

Use a transfer paper appropriate for your dry ink.

Transparencies 

Supported. Must be paper-backed. Run at rated speed. 

Exhibit good projection efficiency.  

Cut Tabs (straight collated)

Supported from Top Tray only.
Job integrity maintained in the event of a problem up to 12 bank tabs.
Run at standard press speed for relevant size paper.

With tab paper guide in place, tray cannot feed media less than 10 in. cross process (254 mm).

Multicolored tabs may cause mis-feeds.

Cut tabs can be printed on both sides; however, second side images may be skewed.
Tab are supported in the top tray only (26 in. = 660.4 mm).

Drilled Stocks

3-hole and GBC supported.

Hole size must be ≤ 10 mm (0.4 in.).
Hole location within 36 mm (1.42 in.) of the edge

Pre-perforated Stocks

Supported.

Printing over the perforation may cause image deletions.

Envelopes

Standard envelopes are not supported.

Special business reply envelopes are available from Domtar.

ID Cards

Optional Xerox Revolution ID Card (Xerox DocuCard) Enablement Kit is required for increased feeder and stacker capacity.

Kit increases ID Card capacity from ~100 to ~450 sheets. Xerox Revolution ID Card (Xerox DocuCard) Enablement Kit is available from Customized Application Service.

Magnets

Xerox Revolution Magnet Media and Xerox UltraMagnet are magnet stocks approved for the iGen 5 Press.

Revolution Magnet Media from Domtar and Xerox UltraMagnet from Antalis requires post-printing magnetization through available equipment. Refer to Xerox Supplies product information for more details.

Polyester

In USA and Canada, Xerox offers Revolution Premium, Performance and Production Never Tear, 4 to 14 mil poly papers approved for the iGen 5 Press. In Europe, Xerox Premium NeverTear is available.

Run at rated speed follow product instructions for best performance.

Carbonless

Standard carbonless can impact the iGen 5 Press parts life and system performance use only carbonless papers that are guaranteed by the supplier to be digital press compatible.

Xerox Revolution Carbonless is available from Domtar and has been independently proven to be the cleanest running. In addition, breaking up the carbonless run into smaller print batches and mixing standard paper stock jobs in between can help keep the system clean and reduce some issues.
