EFI Fiery Configuration Overview
The EFI Fiery controller is an optional print controller that you can configure for use with Xerox PrimeLink C9065/C9070 printers and Xerox Color C60/C70 printers. The EFI Fiery controller uses the Raw protocol on port 9100.
You can connect the EFI Fiery controller to the network and to the printer using one of the following configurations:
Direct Configuration
Network Hub Configuration
For Xerox PrimeLink printers, both configurations require that you install the Printer Model Update. You can download the Printer Model Update file from www.xerox.com/XWSdrivers.
Xerox Workplace Suite fully supports Network Hub Configuration. No special settings are needed. The procedures in this section focus on the Direct Configuration method only.
Direct Configuration: For this configuration, only the EFI Fiery controller is connected to the network. The printer is connected to the EFI Fiery controller, but is isolated from the network. Direct Configuration allows jobs to bypass the EFI Fiery digital front end (DFE) and travel directly to the printer.
Network Hub Configuration: For this configuration, the printer and the EFI Fiery controller each have their own IP address. The printer and controller connect to the network independently of each other. When you use the Network Hub configuration, the printer controller works as if an EFI Fiery controller is not present.
Xerox Workplace Suite and EFI Fiery Direct Configuration Setup Procedure
Configuring the EFI Fiery Controller
In a Web browser, type the IP address for the EFI Fiery controller.
Select the Configure tab, then at the prompt, log in as an administrator.
Click Network > SNMP.
For Security Level, select Minimum. This setting allows Set / Write requests and Get / Read requests.
Set the SNMP Community Names:
For Write Community Name, type private. EIP applications use private as the community string for Set requests. Ensure that this setting is identical for Xerox Workplace Suite, the printer, and the EFI Fiery controller.
For Read Community Name, type public. Ensure that this setting is identical for Xerox Workplace Suite, the printer, and the EFI Fiery controller.
Note: If you decide to use other names for SNMP Set / Write Community Name and SNMP Get / Read Community Name, ensure that for Xerox Workplace Suite, the printer, and the EFI Fiery controller, the Set / Write Community Name is identical and the Get / Read Community Name is identical.
