Remove Paper and Other Obstructions From the Paper Path

NOTE: Paper jams are sometimes caused by small pieces of paper left from previous jams. When performing this solution, check each section carefully for any small pieces of paper inside the machine and remove them.

WARNING:Some parts of the machine are very hot to touch and remove. Never touch a labeled area indicating "High Temperature" and "Caution" to avoid burns.

  1. Make sure the machine has stopped copying or printing.

  2. Open the Front Door.

  3. Grasp the number 2 labeled handle and turn the lever to the right (downward) to the unlocked position.

  4. Carefully pull out the Transfer Module.

  5. Remove any paper. If paper is torn, check for any torn pieces of paper inside the machine.

  6. Move handle 2a to the right and remove any jammed paper.

  7. Pull down handle 2b and remove any jammed paper.

  8. Return handle 2b up to the original position.

    Close Handle 2b

  9. Return handle 2a to its original position.

  10. Grasp and lift the amber / gold colored handle on the Fuser only, and then lift and pull the Fuser up and out of the Transfer Module.

  11. If necessary rotate the Fuser Roll by turning the main (white) gear. If there is any paper, remove the paper from the fuser roll.

  12. Hold the amber / gold handle on the Fuser and then insert the Fuser into the Transfer Module.

  13. Push in the Transfer Module.

    Close Transfer Module

  14. Turn the number 2 handle to the left (upward) to the locked position.

  15. Close the Front Door.
