Upgrading of the device Software / Firmware can be done using one of three methods:
Method 1: Remote Services – If the device is communicating to the Xerox network, this method is the easiest method to perform and is recommended.
Method 2: Embedded Web Server (EWS) – If device is not communicating with the Xerox network, this method is recommended.
Method 3: USB – If the device is not connected to a network, this method is recommended.
Method 1: Check Now for Remote Services Connected Devices:
From a Web browser, enter the Xerox device’s IP address to access the device’s Embedded Web Server.
Go to Settings > Device > Software Update.
Note: If this menu is not visible, select the Login button and login as Admin. The Admin account is case sensitive. Type in Admin with a capital A followed by the password.Click on the Check Now button.
If popup states “No Updates Available”, the device is at the latest FW level
If popup states “Updates Available”, click OK
Click Install
Click “I agree, start update”
Click OK
Note: Do not power off the device until the firmware update is complete. This process could take several minutes to complete.
Method 2: Upgrade the Device Software Over the Network via Embedded Web Server.
From a Web browser, enter the Xerox device’s IP address to access the device’s Embedded Web Server.
Click on Site Map. Under Helpful Links, click on the Utilities and Drivers link. Locate and download the latest firmware.
Go back to the Xerox device’s EWS. Click on Settings > Device > Software Update.
Note: If this menu is not visible, select the Login button and login as Admin. The Admin account is case sensitive. Type in Admin with a capital A followed by the password.Under Upload a Software File, click on the Browse button to locate the software file.
Once the software file is located select the Upload button. A device popup will display both the current firmware version of the device and the new upgrade firmware version to be installed.
Select Start. Once a popup message displays the Upload successful message, select the OK button.
Note: Software Installation will begin several minutes after the software file has been submitted to the machine. The installation progress can be monitored from the Local UI.
Method 3: Upgrade Using USB Drive
Prepare a USB drive by formatting and wiping the drive.
See the Related Content to download the latest FW.
Save the .zip firmware file to the local drive.
Open the .zip file. Extract the .fls file to the formatted USB drive.
Insert the USB drive into the front USB Port of the device.
Once the USB is inserted, the device displays with two options, Scan to USB and Print from USB. Click on Print From USB.
Select the firmware file to be installed.
Once the firmware is selected, a popup screen will display, click on Update Code.
Read popup message. Click Proceed to continue with upgrade. The file will begin transferring to the device.
Note: Do not power off the device until the firmware update is complete. This process could take several minutes to complete. Once the firmware update is completed, device comes up with new firmware.
