Unpack the Printer

NOTE: videos are available at the end of this article.

1. Using a utility knife, cut the tape on the right, top, and left sides of the box.

2. Remove the foam packing.

3. Lift the printer out of the plastic bag.

4. Open the automatic document feeder door and remove the cardboard box that contains the power cord and Install Guide.

5. Remove the tape from the front of the printer.

6. Close the document feeder and remove the tape from the front, back, and right sides of the document feeder.

7. Remove the tape from the back of the printer.

8. Open the front door of the printer and remove the orange protective packing.

9. Using the handle, pull the imaging unit out of the printer.

10. Press the blue release handle and lift the toner cartridge out of the imaging unit.

11. Shake the cartridge six times to redistribute the toner.

12. Pull the toner seal out of the cartridge.

13. Remove the black protective paper from the photoconductor drum.
    
    Note:Remember, do not touch the drum.
    
    

14. Insert the toner cartridge into the imaging unit and push down until the cartridge is seated.

15. Insert the imaging unit into the printer and close the door.

16. Remove the paper tray from the printer.

17. Remove the tape from the paper guides.

18. To accommodate paper length, push the blue spring-loaded release tab and pull the paper guide out of the tray.

19. Fan the paper and ensure the paper edges align.

20. Place the paper in the tray and adjust the guides to the correct position.

21. Insert the paper tray into the printer and close the tray.

22. Connect the power cord to the back of the printer, then plug the power cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
