NOTE: This solution requires knowledge of the network on which the printer is installed and may require the assistance of a System Administrator.

The following conditions must exist prior to setting up Workflow Scanning:

  • The WorkCentre must be connected to the network.

  • The IP address of the printer is required.

  • HTTP must be enabled on the WorkCentre.

NOTE: If you do not know the IP address of the WorkCentre, or if HTTP is enabled, print a Configuration Report. See the Related Content for additional information.

  • A user account for the scanner must be created with full control access rights.

  • A directory to be used as a repository for the scanned files must be created. The directory must then be shared.

  • The Hostname, IPv4 or IPv6 address of the computer must be known. (If the Hostname is used there is no need to verify the IP address.)

NOTE: SMB uses local rights and domain rights. Record the username and password for future use.

If the scan server is a computer running Windows XP OS, first disable Simple File Sharing:

  1. Double-click on [My Computer].

  2. Click on [Tools], and then select [Folder Options].

  3. Click on the [View] tab.

  4. Click on the check box next to [Use Simple File Sharing] to remove the check mark.

To set up SMB Scanning:
