In order to use Server Message Block (SMB) workflow scanning, a shared folder must be created on a network computer on the same network as the Xerox machine and properly configured before the machine can be configured for workflow scanning.

SMB scanning uses that shared folder located on a network computer. Scans are filed to this shared folder.

NOTE: The customer is responsible to create and configure the shared folder. If necessary, contact your System Administrator for additional assistance.

The recommendation is for a local scan user account to be created specifically for workflow scanning purposes. This scan user will be used by the machine to access the file repository (shared folder) during the scan process.

SMB scanning requires the following settings:

  • A folder must be created on the computer where scan jobs will be filed when the scan process completes.

  • The scan user account must have complete administrative access the shared folder.

  • The folder must be shared.

NOTE: If Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or 2008 OS is being used, additional security settings may need to be modified. Contact your System Administrator for additional assistance with configuring these security settings.
