Prerequisites: The fiery MUST be at version 2.0 and the WC78xx / WC7970 MUST be at the latest general release. Check www.xerox.com/support for the latest general release.
In order to configure the WC78xx / WC7970 with their own unique IP address while still being connected to the bustled Fiery you will need to complete the following steps. Please contact your network administrator for assistance in completing these procedures.
1. Connect the Fiery to the WC78xx / WC7970 via a crossover cable. Then connect the Fiery to the local network. (Note the Fierys IP address)
2. Configure the IP address settings of the WC78xx / WC7970 as shown:
IPv4 address: 100.100.100.101
Gateway: 100.100.100.102
Subnet: 255.255.255.252
3. Save the settings and then reboot the device.
4. After the device reboots, make sure that the “Fiery” icon and “Print Me” icons are displayed.
5. With both the Fiery and the WC78xx / WC7970 powered on, disconnect the crossover cable from both the Fiery and the Device. Now disconnect the network cable from the local network.
6. Take the Cisco switch that was provided with your installation kit. (Do not plug in the AC power cord yet) Connect a network cable to port 1 and connect the other end to the local network.
7. Connect a network cable to the Fiery LAN port and the other end to port 2 on the Cisco switch.
8. Connect a network cable to the WC78xx / WC7970 and the other end to Port 3 on the Cisco Switch.
9. Configure the WC78xx / WC7970 with a unique static IP address that is on the same network.
10. Plug in the AC power cable to the Cisco switch.
11. Press and hold the green light reset switch on the back of the bustled Fiery until the light goes out. Wait 5 seconds and the press and hold it again until it comes back on.
12. After startup is complete, a Fiery startup sheet should print on the WC78xx / WC7970. After the startup sheet prints, check to make sure that the “Fiery” and “Print Me” icons are present. (If they do not load within 5-7 minutes, reboot the WC78xx / WC7970).
Your WC78xx / WC7970 now has its own unique IP address but is still connected to the bustled Fiery. Users will now be able to print jobs using either the Fiery driver printing to the Fiery, or with the Xerox driver printing to the Xerox controller.
