Prerequisites:
This solution assumes a Folder has already been created on a Server/Computer for the printer to send Scanned Document to.
This solution assumes a Scan User Account has been created with Local Administrative Access to said Folder, for the Xerox Device To Use for Scanning Purposes. You will need to know the Scan to SMB User account name and password, the Folder Share Name as well as the IP address of the Server/Computer where the Folder has been created.
From a Computer other than the one where the Share Folder was created, on the Same Network as the printer. Log onto this computer using the SMB Scan User Account name and password, then preform the following test.
Click on the [Start] Menu
Click on [Run] if run is available, otherwise simply type the following without clicking on anything other than the Start Menu
Type:
\\\\IP Address of the Server/Computer
and press [Enter] on the computer keyboard.Look for the Folder Share Name and double-click on the folder, it to see inside this folder.
Create a new folder:
Right-click inside the folder to bring up an Options menu. select [New] and then click on [Folder]. Press [Enter] on the keyboard to confirm the name of this new test folder. The default name of the new folder is typically 'New Folder'. The folder will be created.Delete the new folder:
Right-click on the new folder, and select [Delete] from the Options menu. Click [Yes] to confirm.
Test Result:
If the folder and scan user account were created properly and with adequate access rights, the above test should have been successful with no issues.
If you got an error accessing the share, creating or deleting the test folder, you must speak with your Network Administrator as this is a problem with the network (folder share or scan user account).
NOTE: If the computer used to perform the test has the Microsoft Windows XP OS, then Port 139 must be open for SMB to work.
If the computer has Microsoft Windows 7 OS or newer, then Port 445 must be open.
The port setting is something for your Network Administrator to set.
