Configure, Modify or Verify a Microsoft Windows OS Print Driver Uses the LPR Protocol, Not the RAW Protocol

Use this configuration for faster and more reliable printing.  Follow the instructions for the applicable controller.  

 Configure, Modify or Verify the Print Driver if Using the Built in Controller

  1. Open the Printers, Printers and Faxes, or Devices and Printers window. See the Related Content section for additional information.

  2. Right-click on the printer and then click on the Printer Properties option.

  3. Select the Ports tab.

  4. Click on Configure Port.

  5. Change the Port Number from 9100 to 515.

  6. Click on the LPR radio button.

  7. Type: lp (must be entered in lowercase) in the LPR Settings field.

  8. Click OK to save the changes.

Configure, Modify or Verify the Print Driver if Printing Through an EFI Fiery Print Server: 

  1. Open the PrintersPrinters and Faxes, or Devices and Printers window. See the Related Content section for additional information.

  2. Right-click on the printer, and then select [Printer Properties]. The Printer Properties window will be displayed.

  3. Click on the [Ports] tab.

  4. Click on the [Configure Port] button. A Configure Port window will be displayed.

  5. Under Protocol, click on the [LPR] radio button.

  6. Under the LPR Settings section, type: print (must be lower case) in the Queue Name field.

  7. Make sure that the [LPR Byte Counting Enabled] and [SNMP Status Enabled] are not selected.

  8. Click the [OK] button.

  9. Click on the [Accessories] button.

  10. Deselect the [Update Fiery Driver When Opened] and [Two-Way Communication] options.

  11. Add the appropriate finisher and tray if needed.

  12. Click on the [Apply] button.

  13. Click on the [General] tab.

  14. Click on [Print Test Page] to print a test page.
