Determine if the Drum Cartridge is Defective

  1. Click on the [Copy Drum Test PDF] link in the Related Content section to open the file. The Copy Drum Test PDF file contains four pages of different color shadings.

  2. Click on the [Save] icon on the toolbar, and save the file to the desktop.

  3. Open the Copy Drum Test PDF file on the desktop, and click on the [Printer] icon on the toolbar. The Print window will be displayed.

  4. Select the printer from the Name pull-down menu. Make sure to select the printer that is experiencing problems.

  5. Click [OK] to print the file.

  6. Retrieve the copies from the printer.

  7. Evaluate each copy for defects, such as spots, streaks, deletions, lines. If the defect is present in the same area on all four prints, it is not a Drum Cartridge defect.

    If the defect is present on only one of the prints, replace the appropriate Drum Cartridge. Most Drum defects will repeat every 44 mm (1.75 inches) or 94 mm (3.83 inches) on a print.

    • Black - replace CRU A1

    • Cyan - replace CRU A2

    • Magenta - replace CRU A3

    • Green - replace CRU A4.

      NOTE: There is an exception for Green. If the defect is present on both the Green print and the Cyan print, replace the Cyan Drum CRU A2. If the defect is present only on the Green print replace the Yellow Drum CRU A4.
