Clear the Jam in the Bypass Tray

To resolve the error displayed on the Control Panel you must clear all paper from the paper path.

  1. Remove any paper from the Bypass Tray.

  2. Grasp both sides of the Bypass Tray, then pull it straight out of the printer.



  3. Remove the Bypass Tray

  4. Remove Tray 1 from the machine.

    1. Pull out the tray until it stops.



    2. Remove Tray

    3. Lift the front of the tray slightly, then pull it out of the printer.



    4. Remove Tray

  5. Remove the jammed paper.



  6. Remove Jam

  7. To reset the interlock switch and clear the paper jam message, open and close the rear door.



  8. Open and Close the Rear Cover

  9. Insert Tray 1 into the printer, then push it in all the way.

    NOTE: If the tray is extended for legal size paper, the tray protrudes when it is inserted into the printer.

  10. Insert the Bypass Tray back into the printer. Push the tray in all the way.

  11. If the Control Panel prompts you, verify the paper size and type.

    1. Select Size, then select a standard paper size option.

    2. Select Type, then select a paper type option.

  12. Select OK.
