Load Paper in Bypass Tray

When printing or copying on the paper that cannot be used in Tray 1 or 2, use the Bypass Tray.

NOTE: Before loading paper in the tray, fan the edges of the stack of paper. This separates any sheets of paper that are stuck together, and reduces the occurrence of paper jams.

Fan the paper

  1. Open the Bypass Tray.

    NOTE: If necessary, gently pull out the extension tray.

  2. Load paper with the side to be copied or printed, face-down. Insert the paper until the edge lightly touches against the paper feed entrance.

    IMPORTANT: Do not load mixed paper types in a tray.

    Do not load paper above the maximum fill line. Too much paper loaded might cause paper jams or machine malfunctions.

    The machine may not be able to feed or create the required print quality for some types of heavyweight paper.

  3. Gently align the paper guides to the loaded paper.
