NOTES:

  • This solution requires knowledge of your network and wireless router, particularly the following information:

    • Wireless Service Set Identifier (SSID)

    • Encryption method

    • Authentication method

If this information is unknown, obtain it by contacting your Network Administrator / IT Support personnel or the manufacturer of the wireless router, or refer to the documentation of the wireless router.

  • AES* Authentication is only supported when used in conjunction with TKIP*. For example: TKIP+AES authentication and only over WPA2*.

  • If the computer that will be used to configure the WNA-100 has a wireless connection in addition to the wired LAN* connection, disable the wireless connection before continuing.

  • If the computer's wired LAN Ethernet connection is not configured to acquire a network address automatically, change the network card settings on the computer to DHCP. See the Related Content for additional information on how to access the wired / wireless Ethernet card settings. Consult your Network Administrator to ensure you make note of the static TCP/IP settings in your wired Ethernet adapter correctly. This will allow you to re-enter the static TCP/IP settings back into the computer after you have configured the WNA-100 correctly.

To Configure the WNA-100 Network Adapter

  1. Connect the WNA-100 to a computer with an Ethernet Crossover cable.

  2. Open an Internet web browser window; for example, Internet Explorer or Safari.

  3. Enter 169.254.111.111 into the browser's Address bar, and then press [Enter]. The WNA-100 adapter's configuration page will be displayed.

NOTE: If the configuration page does not load, contact your System Administrator / IT Support personnel for assistance. Your browser may be configured to use a proxy to connect to the Internet.

  4. Click on [Advanced Settings] under Wireless Configuration from the menu on the left side of the page. Type: access in the Password field, and then click on [Log In].

  5. Set the Network Type:

    • Select [Infrastructure] for the Network Type. By default, "AD-HOC" is selected.

    • Click on [Save Changes] at the bottom of the page.

    • Click on [Advanced Settings] under Wireless Configuration from the menu on the left side of the page.

  6. Enter the SSID of your wireless router in the Network Name (SSID) field. By default, "Xerox wireless network adapter" is displayed. This must be changed to reflect the SSID of your wireless router.

  7. Change the Encryption and Authentication settings to match your router's configuration:

    • For no encryption or authentication, select Disabled for Encryption and Open System for Authentication.

    • For WPA Personal encryption using TKIP authentication, select WPA for Encryption and PSK for Authentication.

    • For WPA2 Personal encryption using TKIP authentication, select WPA2 for Encryption and PSK for Authentication.

    • For WPA2 Personal encryption using TKIP + AES authentication, select WPA2-WPA for Encryption and PSK for Authentication.

  8. Enter the appropriate Key for the selected encryption. (Use WEP Keys for WEP encryption, Pre-Shared Key for WPA, WPA2, and WPA2-WPA using PSK.)

  9. Click on [Save Changes] at the bottom of the page.

  10. Click on [BOOTP/DHCP Settings] under TCP/IP Configuration from the menu on the left side of the page.

  11. Select [On] for BOOTP/DHCP.

  12. Click on [Save Changes] at the bottom of the page.

  13. Unplug the power cable from the WNA-100.

  14. Unplug the Ethernet crossover cable from the computer.

  15. Plug the power cable back into the WNA-100.

  16. Plug the crossover cable back into the computer.

  17. Try to open a web page from the Internet (for example, www.xerox.com).

    • If the web page opens successfully, the WNA-100 is properly configured.

    • If the web page fails to open, press the reset button on the back of the WNA-100 for five seconds to reset it back to factory default settings and then perform steps 1 – 18 again. Contact Xerox Support if the steps fail a second time.

  18. Once the WNA-100 is properly configured, disconnect it from the computer, connect it to the printer, and then restart the printer.

  19. If you disabled the wireless connection on your computer before you started this solution, re-enable the connection.
