Install the PlotWorks software (PlotWorks Software Installation). PlotWorks will install the PLP Synergix Scanner driver if the scanner activation code has been purchased.
Power OFF the workstation.
Install the IEEE 1394 cable from the IEEE-1394 card to the connectors at the rear of the Scanner (any IEEE 1394 port can be used).
Power ON the Scanner. When the Scanner has finished initializing a P will be displayed on the rear of the Scanner.
Power ON the workstation.
NOTE: Wait for the LED indicator on the rear of the Scanner to display the P before proceeding.If prompted by Windows to install a PCI Bridge driver, do not connect to the Internet to find drivers for the new device. Click [Cancel] to stop and close the window. If the window lists Unknown Driver as the device, leave the window open for use in step 15.
NOTE: The last screen of the Install New Hardware Wizard has a check box that will cause Windows to not ask the user again to install this hardware. Make sure to remove the check mark in the check box before clicking on [Finish].From the taskbar, click on [Start] and select [Control Panel]. The Control Panel window will be displayed.
Double-click on [Administrative Tools].
Double-click on [Computer Management] and click on [Device Manager]. The Device Manager window will be displayed.
Make sure the Synergix IEEE-1394 Scanner can be seen in the Device Manager display.
NOTE: If the scanner is not displayed, contact support to place a service call. There may be a problem with the IEEE 1394 card, IEEE 1394 cable, or the Synergix Scanner.Close the Device Manager window.
Open the PlotWorks Job Editor.
Click on [File], select [Twain], then select [Select Source].
Click to highlight the [Synergix Scanner 1.0 Twain] driver in the list, then click [Select].
Close the Job Editor.
Activate the Found New Hardware Wizard window for the Unknown Device.
Select [Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)], then click [Next].
Select [Don’t search, I will choose driver to install], then click [Next].
Select [Show all devices] from the top of the list, then click [Next].
Click on [Have Disk...] and browse to the Windows\\system32\\drivers folder.
Click on [Open].
Click [OK].
The Scanner will be listed under the Model category. Click [Next].
Click [Finish]. The scanner should be listed in the Device Manager.
The operating system will locate and install the correct driver. Click [Finish] when the installation is complete.
