Upgrade the Printer Software (Firmware) Using CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS)

WARNING: It is highly recommended to consult with your Network or System Administrator before performing any software (firmware) update. Some updates may cause the printer to become non-compliant and cease to work as intended with the environment in which it is installed.
CAUTION: Jobs in the queue must be allowed to complete or be deleted before beginning the software upgrade.
NOTE: All configured network settings and installed options will be retained after the upgrade.
Before starting the procedure, make sure that the following items have been performed:
Obtain the new software upgrade file for the printer from the Xerox website at www.xerox.com or by clicking on the [Drivers and Downloads] link under the Related Content section. The upgrade file will have an extension of .hd.
Download the upgrade file to a local or network drive. The file can be deleted after the upgrade is completed.
NOTE: It is important to obtain the correct upgrade file for this specific printer model.The printer must have an IP address so that CWIS can be accessed.
To upgrade the firmware:
NOTE: Users may be required to login as a System Administrator to view or modify settings within CentreWare Internet Services. If prompted, login using the System Administrator username and password. The default username is "admin", and the default password is "1111".
Open CWIS. See the Related Content for additional information.
Click on the [Properties] tab.
Click on the [Maintenance] link.
Click on the [Firmware Management] link.
Click on [Enabled].
Click on [Firmware Upgrade].
In the Firmware Upgrade field, click on [Browse] to locate the software upgrade file previously saved.
Click on the [.hd] file.
Click on the [Open] button.
Click on the [Install Software] button.
NOTE: The file will be sent to the printer and printing functionality will be disabled. The web browser and CWIS will become inactive until the upgrade has completed. The upgrade should take no longer than 30 minutes.When the upgrade is complete, the printer will reboot automatically. If enabled, the Configuration Report will print. If necessary, review the Configuration Report for changes.
