Create Scanning Templates for SMB or FTP Using CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS)

NOTE: A Network Scanning Repository must be created before performing the steps in this procedure. See the Related Content for additional information.

Templates are used in network scanning to define the destination and scan settings for your scan job. Workflow will be more efficient if specific templates are created for the most frequent scanning jobs.

New templates are based on the settings configured for the Default Template or an existing template can be copied and modified. Up to 250 templates can be created.

  1. From a computer, open an Internet browser window.

  2. Enter the IP address of the Phaser 3635MFP in the Address field, and then press [Enter] on the keyboard. The CentreWare Internet Services window will be displayed.

  3. Click on the [Scan] tab. The Scan options will be displayed.

  4. Under the General Information section, enter a name for the template in the Template Name field. Optionally, a description and the name of the owner can be added.

  5. Click on [Add] to create the new template. The new template will be displayed.

  6. Click on the template that was just created to make any necessary modifications to the settings.

    NOTE: The selections below can be modified as needed each time the specified template is used for scanning.

  7. Click on [Edit] in the Name / Format section to select the name and the format of the scanned original.

  8. Enter a name for the scanned original, and then select the required format:

    • PDF

    • Multi-Page TIFF

    • TIFF

    • JPEG

  9. Click on [Apply].

  10. If additional data is required to assist with document management of the scanned images, click on the file repository listed under the File section, and then click [Edit] and complete the required information.

    NOTE: Additional file repositories that have already been created can be added under the File selection.

    A file repository can be removed from the template under the File selection by highlighting the file repository and clicking [Delete]. The template must contain one file repository.

  11. After making all the necessary selections, click on [Apply]. If the file repository list was changed or added to, the new name(s) will be displayed in the Template Destinations list on the printer.

  12. Close the browser window.
