You can check the status of your installed printer consumables at any time in several ways.

From the Printer

If you enabled the Low Toner Indicator (usually during setup of your printer) an orange LED symbol at the top of the Control Panel indicates the status of the Toner level in the Toner cartridge.

  • When that symbol light is off (as shown), the Toner cartridge still has normal capacity.

  • When that symbol is blinking orange, a small amount of Toner is left in the cartridge. The cartridge is close to its estimated limit of use. Check that a new Xerox replacement Toner cartridge is available and order one if not. You may temporarily increase the printing quality by redistributing Toner.

  • When that Toner LED symbol is solid orange, it is time to replace the cartridge.

To enable the Low Toner Indicator:

  1. At your PC, open Easy Printer Manager from the Start menu.

  2. Select the printer.

  3. Click Properties. You will be taken to the CentreWare Internet Services page for the printer.

  4. If prompted, enter the ID (admin) and Password (1111).

  5. Select Properties > System > Setup.

  6. Set the Low Toner Alert to On.

  7. Enter a percentage for the Toner Low Alert Level from 1 - 50%.

  8. Select the additional Alert features you want to enable. E-mail Alert will send you an e-mail when the printer is low on Toner or needs a new print cartridge.

  9. Select Apply. Users will now be alerted by the orange blinking/solid Toner LED on the Control Panel when the Toner cartridge is low on Toner or out of Toner.

  10. Next set the Low Image Unit Alert to On.

  11. Select the additional Alert features you want to enable. E-mail Alert will send you an e-mail when the printer is low on Toner or needs a new Toner cartridge.

  12. Select Apply. Users will now be alerted in several ways when the printer needs supplies attention.

Checking Supplies Status from Your PC

Use Easy Printer Manager (EPM) to view a supplies status page:

  1. At your PC, open Easy Printer Manager from the Start menu.

  2. Select the printer.

  3. From the Basic mode page (the smaller window), you can see the Toner supply level in the Supplies tab. If you open EPM in the Advanced mode (large window) you will see Supplies Information just below the device picture.

NOTE: Use the Switch icon in the EPM header to move between Basic and Advanced modes.

Use CentreWare Information Services (CWIS) to check supplies status.

NOTE: You must have the printer connected to the network to access CWIS. It will not be available via a USB connection.

  1. Enter the IP Address of the printer in your Internet browser.

  2. If prompted from the CentreWare page, enter the ID (admin) and Password (1111).

  3. Select the Status tab.

  4. Click Supplies in the left navigation to see the Toner levels in the printer.
