Modifying existing Document Types is a simple method for creating a customized Document Type template. However, when more extensive modifications are required, it is best to create a new Document Type template.
The process for creating a Document Type template consists of:
Creating a compatible workflow using Process Manager.
Exporting the workflow.
Converting the workflow using the Template Creation Tool.
Testing the template using the Template Creation Tool.
Importing the template into Express to Print using the Template Creation Tool.
Creating a compatible Process Manager workflow:
Process Manager workflows that are converted for import can only support certain specific workflow nodes to be compatible with Express to Print. Supported process nodes include:
Imposition
Barcode
Page Number
Bates Numbering
Watermarks
Print
Save
The following guidelines and restrictions should be followed when constructing a workflow:
A workflow should contain a single imposition node and a single print or save node.
A workflow should contain a single destination node, either a print or save node, but not both.
Page numbers, barcodes, watermarks, and bates numbers nodes are translated into page objects in a template (one page object per node).
Only a single instance of a page number object is permitted.
A watermark can only be either text or image.
A text watermark (FreeFlow Express to Print Text Annotation) can only have one entry per page object (only one text annotation), and the image watermark can only support one image per page object.
The barcode can only support one barcode per page object.
Regional Settings and template units:
FreeFlow Express to Print and the Template Creation Tool support units corresponding to the regional settings of the system. If metric regional settings are used, your workflow should also be programmed with metric regional settings and units to ensure that the template has the correct settings. The following are affected by regional setting measurement type (metric and US (imperial) are the only options):
