Note: This issue does not apply to the AltaLink C8170. Only the AltaLink C8130/C8135/C8145/C8155 are affected.
In order to properly troubleshoot image quality issues, you need to determine the location (edge) and direction of the defect. There are four edges and two directions to any media. Review the image and the table below for additional information.
Media Process Direction
Image Number | Term | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Lead Edge | The edge of the media that feeds out of the machine first. For the Short Edge Feed (SEF) orientation, the shortest edge feeds out of the machine first. For the Long Edge Feed (LEF) orientation, the longest edge feeds out of the machine first. |
2 | Inboard Edge | The edge of the media closest to the back of the machine |
3 | Trail Edge | The edge of the media that feeds out of the machine last |
4 | Outboard Edge | The edge of the media closest to the front of the machine |
5 | In Process Direction | Runs from the Lead Edge to the Trail Edge |
6 | Cross Process Direction | Runs from the Inboard Edge to the Outboard Edge |
