Check the Ink Levels and Replace the Ink Stick, if Necessary

NOTE: A label above each ink bin indicates the color and color number for that bin. Each Ink Stick has a number that corresponds to the number on the ink loading bin. Each Ink Stick is uniquely shaped to fit into the correct ink loading bin. Do not force the Ink Stick into the ink loading bin.

CAUTION: Use of Ink other than Genuine Xerox Solid Ink for 8500|8550|8560|8570|8870 may affect print quality and printer reliability. It is the only ink designed and manufactured under strict quality controls by Xerox for specific use with this printer.

To check ink levels or supplies status from the Control Panel:

  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Information] on the Display Screen.

  2. Press the [OK] button.

  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Supplies Info].

  4. Press the [OK] button.

  5. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Cyan Life], [Magenta Life], [Yellow Life], or [Black Life].

  6. Press the [OK] button. Status X-X Pages Remaining and X% Remaining will be displayed for each color selected.

  7. Replace the ink, if necessary. See the Related Content for additional information.

To check ink levels or supplies status from CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS):

NOTE: The IP address of the printer is required to perform the following steps. The printer's IP address can be found on the Configuration Page. See the Related Content for information on how to print a Configuration Page.

  1. From the computer, open an Internet browser window.

  2. Enter the IP address of the printer in the Address field, and then press [Enter] on the keyboard. The CWIS home page will be displayed.

  3. Click on the [Status] link.

  4. Click on the [Supplies] button. The Supplies Status Page will be displayed.

  5. Replace the ink, if necessary. See the Related Content for additional information.
