CAUTION: Performing a software reset/upgrade on printers equipped with a tablet can affect the special bundle that is installed on the tablet.  If you are using a device with a tablet, contact Support for additional assistance.

NOTE: A software reset and a power Off and On will perform many of the same tasks; however, the main differences are as follows:

  • A software reset clears the temporary files from the system and the network controller.

  • A power Off and On shuts down the printer and clear any data in the volatile memory.

It is best to perform a software reset first.

  1. Perform a software reset if you have the appropriate access, if not, proceed to step 2. See the Related Content for additional information.

  2. If the software reset does not achieve the expected results, or the reset function is restricted by a System Administrator, perform a power off the printer, wait two minutes, then power the printer back on. See the Related Content for additional information.

NOTE: When performing the power Off and power On procedure, it is crucial that the printer remain completely powered off for a minimum of 2 minutes before powering back on in order for any residual power remaining in the device components to dissipate.
