NOTE: The following steps assume that the printer is operating correctly and is connected to an Ethernet network connection.

When the printer is powered on the first time after installation, it automatically uses DHCP to obtain its network configuration. In order to manually assign a static IP address, DHCP must first be disabled, and then the IP address, gateway address, subnet mask, and DNS Server address must be manually entered.

Before beginning, make sure to have the following information available. This information should be provided by a Network Administrator:

  • IP address

  • Gateway address

  • Subnet Mask

  • DNS Server address

Step 1: Disable DHCP

  1. Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel.

  2. Enter the password using the numeric keypad, and then select [Enter] on the Touch Screen.

NOTE: The default password is "1111". It is recommended that the System Administrator change this password. For additional information, press the [Help] button on the Control Panel.

  3. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.

  4. Select the [Tools] tab on the Touch Screen.

  5. Select [Connectivity and Network Setup].

  6. Select [Advanced].

  7. Select [Network Setting].

  8. Select [Network Setup].

  9. Select [TCP/IP Options].

NOTE: HTTP is enabled as an initial factory default.

  10. Make sure HTTP indicates Enable. If not enabled, select [HTTP], select [Enable], and then select [Save].

  11. Select [TCP/IP IPv4Setup].

  12. Select the [Dynamic Addressing] button. By default, DHCP will be selected. Select [Disabled], and then select [Save]. DHCP will be disabled. The TCP/IP IPv4 Setup screen will be displayed.

Step 2: Configure the static IP address

  1. Select [Name / Address].

  2. To enter the IP address, select each octet field under the IP address header, before entering the numbers from the keypad.

  3. Select the Host Name icon and enter the Host Name using the keyboard on the Touch Screen. The keyboard closely resembles a computer keyboard layout. This entry is case sensitive. Make sure to use upper and lower case letters (as needed) to agree with the Host Name.

NOTE: To access more characters, select [123] on the Touch Screen.

  4. Select [Save]. The TCP/IP IPv4 Setup screen will be displayed.

  5. Select [Subnet and Gateway].

  6. To enter the subnet mask, select each octet field under the Subnet address header, before entering the numbers from the keypad.

  7. To enter the gateway mask, select each octet field under the IP Gateway address header, before entering the numbers from the keypad.

  8. Select [Save] to accept the changes. The TCP/IP IPv4 Setup screen will be displayed.

  9. Select [Close]. The broadcast address will be assigned automatically. The TCP/IP Options screen will be displayed.

NOTE: TCP/IP-Line Printer is enabled as an initial factory default.

  10. Make sure TCP/IP-Line Printer indicates Enable. If not enabled, select [TCP/IP-Line Printer] and then select [Enable].

CAUTION: Modification of the port number at which the printer will accept LPR print jobs is allowed, however it is recommended that this be done using extreme caution. Most LPR spoolers are set to send print jobs to the default port of 515.

  11. If required for a specific reason, the LPR port for the (TCP/IP-Line Printer) printer can be modified. Select the Port Number field, enter an alternate port number at the keypad, and then select [Save].

  12. Select [HTTP] and make sure "Enabled" is displayed. If not enabled, select [Enable]. Select [Save]. The TCP/IP Options screen will be displayed.

Step 3: Configure DNS/DDNS

  1. Select [TCP/IP IPv4 Setup].

  2. Select [DNS Configuration].

NOTE: This option will be grayed out if the TCP/IP protocol is not enabled.

  3. Select the [Domain Name] button.

  4. Select the [Clear Text] button on the Touch Screen keyboard to remove the default name before entering the new name.

  5. Select [Save].

  6. Select [Close].

  7. Select [Preferred DNS Server].

  8. To enter the server address, select each octet field under the DNS Server IP address header, before entering the numbers from the keypad.

  9. If necessary, select [Alternate DNS Servers] and enter additional addresses, as required.

NOTE: If DHCP is enabled, the Alternate DNS server information is not available as a feature summary.

  10. Select [Save].

Step 4 (Optional): Enable Dynamic DNS Registration

NOTE: If the DNS Server does not support dynamic updates, this feature does not need to be enabled. Continue with the final step to log out of the machine.

  1. Select [Dynamic DNS Registration].

  2. Select [Enable].

  3. Select [Save].

  4. Select [Close].

  5. Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel, and then select [Confirm] to log out and close the Tools menu.
